Mobilink-Warid will invest $1 Billion in Pakistan, Says VimpleCom Chief

VimpelCom’s Chief Jean-Yves Charlier who is in Pakistan these days, has said that his company will invest 1 billion dollars in Pakistan over the next five days.

Addressing to a press conference he said, “Mobilink and Warid will benefit from VimpelCom’s $1 billion investment in building one of the largest and most ambitious IT infrastructures in the industry.”

Speaking about the Mobilink-Warid merger he said that very soon 5,000 new jobs will be created in Pakistan ─ Its a win-win situation customers and the economy.

Mobilink-Warid now have a combined customer base of 50 million users. 38 million customers of Mobilink will be provided 4G services, while 12 million Warid users will get access to 3G.

This investment will also help opening 1500 new Mobilink-Warid franchise shops across the country and especially in remote areas.

It is expected that with in an year or so Mobilink and Warid will be combined in a single entity, however the name hasn’t been decided yet.
