Nokia is Back, Launches First Android Phone with 4GB of RAM

Nokia fans have waited long enough to see a true Android smartphone from the iconic Finnish brand. Since Microsoft is no longer in the picture, here comes the first Nokia phone running Android Nougat 7.0 dubbed as Nokia 6.

HMD Global, which now owns the brand, announced the launch of Nokia 6 today. For now it will be available only in China through online portal JD.com for 1699 RMB that translates to almost Rs. 26,000.

Nokia 6 at a Glance:

Nokia 6 brings a new design philosophy that embraces much-loved Nokia hallmarks of quality and craftsman ship.

It features a unibody design made of aluminum and pretty much looks like an amalgamation of Nokia Lumia with iPhone. It also features a physical home key on the front that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Nokia 6 has 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass and polarizer layer on top. On the inside it packs a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, clocked at 1.4GHz and coupled with Andreno 505 GPU.

The RAM is 4GB LPPDDR 3 and the internal storage is 64GB, it can also take a microSD card up to 128GB. Nokia 6 features dual amplifiers that deliver a 6dB louder sound than a regular amp, giving higher voice and deeper bass.

In terms of software Nokia 6 runs Android Nougat 7.0, the UI and some apps like camera are slightly modified to provide a rich user experience.

Talking about the cameras, Nokia 6 has a 16-Megapixel phase detection auto focus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The front features an 8-Megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The device is powered by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, but doesn’t feature any kind of fast charging. Though the company claims that it will give a full day usage without breaking a sweat.

In terms of connectivity, Nokia 6 provides dual SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB OTG, 3.5mm Audio port, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.

The Old Nokia is Back:

It merits mentioning here that HMD Global is made up of veteran Nokia staff. It secured the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights from Microsoft back in 2016. The manufacturing and distribution is performed by Foxconn, a popular Taiwanese multinational electronics maker, known for manufacturing iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys and PlayStation.
