More than 10,000 Vehicles Registered Through Online DVR System in Punjab

Government of Punjab has announced that over 10,000 vehicles have so far been registered under Dealer Vehicle Registration system in five districts of the Punjab.

The online Dealer Vehicle Registration System (DVRS) was launched last year with an aim to streamline registration of vehicles and abolishing forged and applied-for number plates.

How DVRS Works?

Under this new system the number plates of vehicles would be provided by the dealers. They deposit registration fee and number plate fee themselves and maintain record of vehicles by computerizing themselves and the approved number plates would be provided to buyers of the vehicles.

Not only DVRS helps to cut the tendency of late registration of vehicle and evasion of govt. tax on vehicles, it also eliminates any chance of corruption by government officials.

The DVRS dealer charges, fee of Rs. 2000 for a vehicle and Rs. 500 for a motorcycle from the customer as fixed by the government and would give services for issuance of number plate.

DVRS is a joint project of the provincial Excise and Taxation Department and Punjab Information Technology Board. Currently vehicles can registered through 23 online-registered dealers in the districts of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Faisalabad.
