Jazz and USF to Establish 10 Telecenters Across Pakistan

Ministry of IT & Telecom through Universal Service Fund has entered into a contract with Jazz for the establishment of ten Telecenters across the country.

In this connection, a signing ceremony of USF with Jazz was held, Minister of State for IT & Telecom Mrs. Anusha Rehman witnessed the ceremony.

Mr. Haaris Chaudhary, CEO – USF, and CEO Jazz Mr. Aamir Ibrahim mutually signed the agreement for the establishment of telecenters.

What is a Telecenter?

A telecentre is a public place where people can access computers, the Internet, and other digital technologies. That enables them to gather information, create, learn, and communicate with others while they develop essential digital skills.

Telecenters with create more employment opportunities:

These centers will have provision of e-services, distance learning, and a creation of employment opportunities for freelancers. Mrs. Anusha Rehman said that provision of 3G Mobile broadband services to far flung areas remained our priority focus.

She further added that this endeavor of Telecenters project is an integral part of overall policy decision of Prime Minister for providing maximum facilitation to remote areas

Telecenters in Smaller Cities:

It is noteworthy to mention that these centers are being established in Sargodha, Okara, Burewala, Arifwala, Sheikhupura and Fazilpur – Punjab districts; Mingora, and Mardan – KPK districts; Shikarpur, and KN Shah – Sindh districts.
