Microsoft Takes on Chrome OS with Windows Cloud

You must have heard about Chromebooks, although not so popular in Pakistan these laptops run on Linux-based Chrome OS and costs very low.

Most of the applications run from cloud, making the laptop work faster and virus free. As a result many offices and educational institutes opt for Chromebooks.

Many laptop makers known for their Windows based computers are also making Chromebooks now. However, Microsoft isn’t so happy, that’s why the software giant is soon going to release Windows Cloud.

A Windows That Runs Select Apps Only:

Sources suggest that Windows Cloud is a spin on Windows that appears focused on beating Google’s Chrome OS.

It looks and works just like a normal Windows system, but it doesn’t run conventional Windows applications. The Windows Cloud only run Universal Windows Platform apps found in the Windows Store.

This makes it a preferable choice for offices and educational institutes where you don’t want the users to run “other than work” applications. They can’t load games and software and probably the USB flash drives won’t able to infect the system as well.

Windows Cloud Availability:

Microsoft intends to release Cloud very soon, there is no confirmation regarding actual release dates. However, rumors suggest that the first public version could be announced in conjunction with the launch of Windows 10 Creators Update.
