Winners of Imagine Cup 2013 Pakistan announced

Microsoft Pakistan in partnership with Nokia Pakistan announced the national winners of Imagine Cup 2013 Pakistan, the world’s most prestigious student technology competition.

Microsoft said that this winning team was shortlisted from approximately 180+ entries received this year. Team Epic, the winning team, developed a project Epic to detect falls and Accidents using Windows Phone Device, it’s also capable to alert the authorities of such occurrence. Using the same technology, brain wave data can be collected for various problems including Epileptic Seizures and can be used for further research.

This year Imagine Cup presented university students with three competition categories:

  • World Citizenship: honors the software application with the greatest potential to make a positive contribution to the betterment of humanity.
  • Games: honors the best student games built on Microsoft platforms Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Kinect for Windows Software Development Kit and Xbox Indie Games.
  • Innovation: honors apps that deliver dramatic, accessible innovations and advance the state of the art in major categories such as social networks, search, classifieds or online shopping.

Now in its eleventh year, Imagine Cup 2013 gave students in the Pakistan an opportunity to bring their technology ideas to life using Microsoft technology.

We need to make sure that students must be at the forefront of embracing and utilizing new technology, and through competitions like Imagine Cup we provide excellent opportunities for those students that have a passion for technology, entrepreneurial talent and leadership abilities to discover their potential and put it at work early on.

Imagine Cup has been a wonderful and inspiring experience for us, we have worked as a team and had tons of fun building something that can actually help people in the world. To know that something that YOU created has the potential to affect lives gives you a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment that few other experiences can. We’re looking forward to making Pakistan proud in the World Wide finals.

Equipping young people with technology will truly put the future of their nations in their hands.

The joint collaboration between Microsoft and Nokia is an effort to expand the existing ecosystem and compliment the changing mobile and PC consumption needs of the masses. The competition will promote development of new apps, games and software and as a result provide more rich content and technology to end-users.
