Amazon launched its Marketplace in India

Amazon.com, an American multinational electronic commerce company started its operations in 1995. Initially it was an online bookstore, but soon it diversified, selling DVDs, video games, electronics, apparel, furniture, software and many other items. Amazon now also produce its own tablets, e-book readers and provider of cloud computing services.

Recently Amazon has launched its Marketplace business in India. Under this model Amazon will offer a platform for third parties and consumers to sell and buy products. Foreign companies are currently not allowed to directly offer online retailing in India. The site currently offers books and DVDs only but in a statement company said that soon mobile phones, cameras and other electronics items will be added.

Last year Amazon launched a website named Junglee in india, which aggregates deals from Web retailers and sent visitors to other sites to make purchases. It was a test project to get information about the market and working conditions. India is the 10th country where Amazon Marketplace is launched. Currently the Indian E-commerce market is dominated by a local company Flipkart.com, but now foreign companies like Amazon and eBay are also trying to grab their share in the Indian market.

How long do you think it will take these companies to launch their stores and marketplaces in Pakistan and what is major factor which is creating hurdels for foriegn companies to operate in Pakistan.
