Mediatek Launches New Helio X30, P25 & P20 Chipsets

MediaTek held their official launch event for their long awaited flagship Helio X30, and their latest mid-range chips, the Helio P20 and P25 in China yesterday.

Helio X30:

The Helio X30 is a 10 core chip, with two 2.8 GHz A73 cores, four 2.2 GHz A53 cores, and four 2 GHz A35 cores on TSMC’s 10 nm FinFET+ process.

This new chip brings support for up to 8 GB RAM, eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1, faster image processing, video encode at up to 4k and hardware accelerated video decode at up to 4k .

It supports 2560×1600 displays, better audio with a claimed 120 dB SNR, a faster sensor processor, category 10 LTE and a 2×2 802.11ac WiFi radio.

Helio P20 & P25:

Helio P10 has recently became the favorite chipset for mid-range smartphones, though it has many limitations and can’t be considered a top-notch performer however the latest P20 chipset claims to better and faster.

P20 will have 8 A53 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz with a Mali-T880 MP2 GPU at 900 MHz on TSMC’s 16 nm FFC node, with support for up to 6 GB of RAM, hardware accelerated video decode at up to 4k and support for 1920×1080 displays. It also brings category 6 LTE with 2x carrier aggregation with Dual-SIM Dual Standby support.

There is no specific information provided regarding P25, however it is expected to be a higher clocked version of the P20.
