The rumors about threaded conversations on Facebook were floating on the internet for past two years now, and today its officially announced that that the social network now permits individual comment replies but only on Pages for now.
Readers are now able to directly reply to comments made on Page content or start a threaded conversation. The threaded comments are tweaked to favor popularity; the most active replies and discussions will automatically move to the top.
According to the company, this new system has undergone “months of testing” and it is hoping that it will foster more open dialogue within its community. The update will be available on desktop and there are plans to make it available in the Graph API and mobile in the future.
This update has been automatically turned on for Pages with more than 10,000 followers, but if your page has less number of likes – don’t worry; you can still get this feature, just go to admin panel and enable it through the Manage Permissions section. All Pages should have the feature enabled on July 10, 2013.
Threads will be ordered based on relevance to viewer, it involves three factors – positive feedback, connections, and negative feedback. For instance, positive feedback and user connections might move the conversation higher, like comments made by your friends will be shown at the top.
The new feature is designed to facilitate conversation with Page administrators, fans, and others. So do you have a fan page? and this new feature is already activated for you – if not then get it activated from Manage Permissions settings.
