Last month we informed you about the agreement of VimpleCom with Nokia and Microsoft to provide operator billing for its customers on Windows Phone and Nokia devices. Today in the first stage, Mobilink has announced that its customers will now be able to make direct purchases from the Nokia App Store utilizing Mobilink’s operator billing system. This system will enable customers to purchase apps and other content from the Nokia App Store using the credit from their postpaid or prepaid connections.
Mobilink customers can select an app of their choice from the Nokia App Store and then select the ‘Phone Bill’ as the payment option for their download. Mobilink subscribers will be able to use their phones as a payment method. Instead of using a credit card, customers will be able to add the cost of a game or app downloaded from the Nokia store to a monthly bill or have it deducted from their prepaid credit. GPRS charges will apply for accessing and downloading from the Nokia App Store.
Previously, customers could pay for their favorite apps through credit cards, which was a relatively cumbersome and insecure mode of transactions. The provision of operator billing enables a safer platform of payments for Mobilink customers across Pakistan
