This year at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 gaming console. It was officially announced back in February but Sony refrained from showing it publicly or posting any images of the console.
The new PlayStation is very different from PS3 in terms of design, it goes with a flat boxy design instead of curves with a resemblance to the PS2. The color of PlayStation 4 is all black with a matte finish for most of the area and a purple divider between the glossy and matte halves.
On the front there is the Blu-ray drive, two USB 3.0 ports. On the back there are air vents with Ethernet, HDMI-out, Optical-out, Aux and Power slots.
Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 with a single Dualshock 4 controller will be released in Europe and United States for a price of €399 and $399 respectively. You can buy a second controller for $59 as well as other accessories like Camera.
According to Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton, there are currently over 140 games in development for it, of which 100 will launch in the first year of its existence – around 40 will be PS4 exclusives. The company didn’t reveal the exact date and only mentioned that the new console will be available at the end of this year.
PlayStation 4 is priced $100 low than its competitor Xbox One, which is priced at $499 and will be available in November this year.
