Huawei fans were a little disappointed when the Chinese manufacturer didn’t announced its next flagship device Ascend P7 at MWC this year. We have been hearing about the successor of last year’s star smartphone Ascend P6 for more than 6 months now. An internal document containing specifications and press render were also leaked a couple of months ago.

Now we are getting reports that Huawei is all set to launch this device on May 7 in Paris. Invitations are being sent out to press and media.

Ascend P7 (codename Sophia) is expected to be packed with a newer 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. Unlike its predecessor P7 includes a 5 inches Full HD display and it will be a little thicker (around 6.3mm). It will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out the box along with EMUI 2.x on top of it.

Cameras in the new device have been also upgraded, now it features a 13-megapixel primary shooter and 8-megapixel front facing camera.

The device will now pack a bigger 2500mAh battery and it may come in LTE & Dual-SIM variants.

We were so excited to see the front speaker design in the leaked render image, but a recent leak suggests that the design isn’t changed much and its just a bigger “P6”. Well to know this for sure all we’ve to do is to wait till May 7. Keep checking back as we’ll update you on this in the coming days.
