Zong has officially launched its 4G LTE mobile services in Pakistan. A launch ceremony was held in Karachi where people from all walks of life, including the notable media personalities, tech-savvy individuals and business executives attended the event.
Dr. Fan Yunjun, Ceo CMPak was the chief guest at the event, he briefed the media about 4G LTE network and its implications. The initial launch targets the 7 major cities, where Zong has vast network coverage which ensures the availability of the fastest data speeds. Zong 4G is currently available in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Peshawar & Quetta with extensive coverage. As per company plans Super 3G and 4G LTE services will be expanded to other cities and towns in the coming months.
He added that Zong will invest a large sum of 1 billion dollars in Pakistan over the span of three to four years. The company aims to add 4,000 new cell sites to the network by year end.
Zong will also be offering its very own 4G enabled handset, the M811. The company has also partnered with Huawei and Samsung to sell 4G devices with Zong Internet bundles. In addition to a 4G enabled smartphone, users will also have to get new 4G SIMs, which you can either collect from the nearest service center or order it online.
Zong 4G Internet Tariffs:
Zong customers can use the old 2G and 3G Internet packages on their 4G SIMs, however the company has also introduced new monthly packages with increased data limits ─ which both prepaid and postpaid users can subscribe. Here are the details:
- Premium 2GB: Rs. 350
- Premium 4GB: Rs. 650
- Premium 10GB: Rs. 1500
- Premium 20GB: Rs. 2500
- Premium 30GB: Rs. 3500
Prepaid users have to *6464# to activate 4G-enabled bundles, whereas postpaid users can dial *7788# to activate. It also merits mentioning that 4G enabled bundles can be used in 4G, 3G & 2G areas.
Hybrid Bundles:
In addition to 4G- enabled data bundles, you can also subscribe to 4G enabled hybrid bundles separately. The hybrid bundles offer a special deal for customers which includes unlimited on net calls, free SMS and Internet usage. To subscribe customers can dial *6565#.
The first Hybrid bundles offers on-net unlimited calls, 500 SMS/day and 2GB mobile internet for a price of Rs. 599 per month. The second Hybrid bundle offers 2 GB extra mobile internet and costs Rs. 799 per month.
Zong customers can also pre-book 4G devices online, currently the company is selling Huawei Honor 3C LTE, Huawei G6 and Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The devices will be available by November 2014 however Zong’s own 4G enable device, M811 will be available next week.
