OPPO, the Chinese multinational smartphones manufacturer is known for its unique products. The company entered Pakistan’s market just last year and directly targeted the premium user base including Apple and Samsung fanboys. However despite the poised & elegant design of OPPO phones, the main grievance remained to be the lack of updated software.
OPPO smartphones are shipped with ColorOS, which is a very nice operating system based upon Android. However unlike other manufacturers the company is pretty much lazy to update the core Android. Most of OPPO devices are still runing on 4.3 Jelly Bean, and the flagships were just upgraded to KitKat a few months ago.
OPPO users all over the world have only one demand and that is “updated Android experience”. At the moment Lollipop 5.x is the latest flavor of Android. Most of the premium devices are already upgraded to this version however none of OPPO smartphones have been upgraded yet.
But here is the good news, according to a recent status update by OPPO Pakistan. The company is ready to release the new version of ColorOS (v2.1) based upon Android Lollipop. The familiar Lollipop logo of Android has been combined with ColorOS logo in the image to confirm that its based upon the latest flavor of Android. However no exact date has been mentioned for the release and it’s unclear which devices will get this update. We’re sure that the current flagships, N3 and R5 are bound to get the update. However Find 7 and 7a users should also keep their hopes high.
According to some other news, the upcoming flagship device R7 is already running on 2.1 and will be launched in the mid of this month in China.
