WhatsApp has earlier announced to end the support for a range of older devices running Symbian, BlackBerry OS, Windows Phone 7 and earlier versions of Android and iOS.
However today WhatsApp has updated its original blog post to extend the support for BlackBerry and Nokia until June 30, 2017.
It is not clear that on what basis this decision has been made, since Android 2.1, 2.2, iPhone 3GS/iOS 6 and Windows Phone 7 are still going to be cup apart.
While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future
It’s a fast paced world
It merits mentioning here that soon WhatsApp is going to turn 8 years old and in the past couple of years, newer Operating Systems from Google and Apple have dominated the market. So it is highly unlikely that WhatsApp will extend support again for these devices and operating systems.
