Sindh government is currently developing a special software which will enable authorities to lock snatched or stolen mobile phones.
A high level meeting held in Karachi to discuss the functionality of this new software. IG Sindh Police asked the stakeholders to complete their framework and present it for approval as soon as possible.
This software called “internet offline mobile fighter” will help in timely recovery of the device. It will work with all kind of mobile and smartphones, irrespective of their OS.
How does it works?
The software will use the IMEI number of the mobile phone along with its SIM card number to register it in the system. In case the mobile phone is stolen, lost or snatched the user can get mobile and SIM card blocked instantly. It will also help tracking the stolen mobile and the culprits.
It merits mentioning here that mobile snatching is a common street crime in Karachi and other parts of the province. The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee has recently identified 60 places, where incidents of street crimes, particularly snatching of mobile phones, have increased alarmingly.
