Huawei has recently announced the affordable dual-camera smartphone Honor 6x in Pakistan. The specs are all great but this phone comes with an older version of Android out of the box.

Huawei Pakistan has announced today that all Honor 6x and Nova Plus smartphone customers can now taste the latest EMUI 5, based on Nougat 7.0 Android.

New Huawei Phones Will Get Timely Updates:

We’re glad that at least this Chinese maker is committed to provide latest Android upgrades and security patches for its smartphones.

On other hand many Chinese brands notably OPPO and Lenovo are infamous for not providing timely updates. For example OPPO’s flagship F1 Plus smartphone is still running on Android Lollipop 5.1, the version which was released in early 2015.

How to Upgrade Your Honor 6x and Nova Plus?

It’s kind of a beta test program, Huawei will roll out the OTA update very soon but if you’re eager to try. Follow these instructions:

  • Open this link, https://m.me/HuaweimobileAE/
  • You must have a Facebook account, since Huawei is using a chat-bot to guide you through the process.
  • Select a language when asked and join the test program.
  • Then you’ll will have to select the country and follow on screen instructions.

Honor 8 is still missing the Nougat Flavor:

Huawei launched Honor 8 in Pakistan back in October. This is one of the best selling Honor smartphones to date. Just like Honor 6x, Honor 8 comes pre-loaded with Android 6.0, however in some countries Huawei has already released a Nougat 7.0 update for this phone. Unfortunately customers in Pakistan, haven’t got it yet or invited to join the beta program.
