The Chinese multinational smartphone maker Meizu is all set to make its debut in Pakistan’s market, we’ve confirmed from our sources.

Meizu is known for its unique approach on Android called Flyme OS that closely resembles to iOS, moreover the design layout of Meizu smartphones are also quite similar to those of Apple.

However, it doesn’t mean Meizu is a “copy” of iPhone and interestingly the latest iPhone 7 actually copied the antenna lines from Meizu Pro 6. Meizu’s mTouch button has been recently adapted by Huawei in their latest P10 series smartphones.

At the MWC this year Meizu has also launched the mCharge 4.0, which according to company claims is fastest and safest mobile phone charging technology.

Meizu is a Chinese Multinational Brand:

Just like many other Chinese electronics companies, Meizu started its journey by manufacturing MP3 and MP4 players, however soon it entered the mobile phone businesses and became one of the best brands in China.

Other than China, Meizu has official presence in Europe, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Russia, Egypt and quite recently India, Iran and Bangladesh.

It is worth mentioning that Alibaba is one of the minority stake holders in Meizu and invested over $590 million in 2015.

Meizu’s Launch in Pakistan:

Our sources have confirmed that Meizu has the distribution agreement in Pakistan with Muller & Phipps and the company could launch the devices by the end of this month.

Meizu has 4 different series of smartphones, the “Pro” series is dedicated for the high-end flagship devices, the “MX and M” series are the midrange and the “U series” is the low-end.

PTA sources say that Meizu has go type approval for 3 smartphone models for the first phase and that could include devices from the midrange MX and M series.

Meizu Smartphone Prices and the Target Market:

We don’t have any official word on the pricing yet, but considering the India market we’re hoping that the prices will be same as other international markets. There could be a slight increase due to taxes and duties but most of the models will be under Rs. 25,000.

It merits mentioning here that Meizu’s entry could affect the business for Huawei and OPPO, as the company is known to make premium-quality smartphones and price them affordably.

However, the company might need to spend extra money of advertising, since Meizu is relatively an unknown brand that offers a different kind of Android experience.
