The Minister of state for IT & Telecom, Anusha Rahman has recently met with UK’s Minister of State for Digital Telecommunication Matt Hancock in London.
During the meeting she briefed about the state of IT and Telecom in Pakistan. She said that Pakistan’s Telecom sector is growing by leaps and bounds. Last year the telecom sector has an annual turnover of $4.5 billion USD.
In the last three years, Internet usage in the country have seen a boom and now there are more than 40 million connected people as compared to 3 million in 2013.
She also told that under the initiative of connecting the unconnected, around 6500 km of optical fiber will be laid across the country to cover the inaccessible terrain.
UK’s Minister Hancock appreciated the fast growth and latest developments in IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan.
