Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has delayed the auction for sale of 10 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band for technology neutral 3G/4G services across Pakistan.
The auction was scheduled for May 16, however telecom operators have approached the Authority to delay the auction process. It was speculated earlier that only Ufone would be a part of this auction. However, some new reports suggest that all other operators will also take part in it.
Revised Dates:
New deadline for prospective applicants to submit application form with pre-bid deposits is May 17 and the mock auction will be held on May 22. After that the bidding process will start on May 24 and on completion the provisional winner would be announced.
The base price for the technology neutral 10 MHz paired spectrum as a single block will be $295 million. Which makes it usable for all Next Generation Mobile Services (including 3G/4G and advanced generations). The tenure of frequency assignment is 15 years; however, the service provider should maintain quality of service.
