Google Search broke a 25-year record for highest traffic during FIFA World Cup final

Google CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted that, Google Search recorded the highest traffic in its 25-year history during the FIFA World Cup. The platform became a source of information for the World Cup, especially for the final match which is reported to be the most-watched final ever.

To capture the maximum number of audience for its search engine, Google designed a dedicated section. Searching “World Cup” showed a dedicated section at the top with a list of upcoming matches, for instance, including dates and local times. You could also set up notifications on mobile for specific teams by tapping the bell icon and choosing the squad you wanted to follow.

Argentina bagged the FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy after winning the finals. Argentina defeated two-time champions France 4-2 on penalties in the final match on Sunday, 18 December.
