Instagram is once again offering an in-app method for users to create shareable end-of-year content. The social network announced today that it’s rolling out a new Reels template that allows users to create their own 2022 Recap which can be shared with friends and family on the platform.
Users can customize their 2022 Recap Reel by choosing a narrated template from Bad Bunny, DJ Khaled, Badshah or Stranger Things star, Priah Ferguson. Recap can include up to 14 photos to share, which will automatically be edited into a Reel to be shared with followers.
Users will able to see a new “create your 2022 recap reel” prompt in the app’s homepage that will take them to the new template. Or, you can navigate to the Reels tab to select the 2022 recap template to get started.
Previously, Instagram users created their own year-end throwbacks with their picture collages in a photo grid. Last year, the platform allowed users to select up to 10 stories from the year to share with their followers.
The launch comes as end-of-the-year recaps become popular with other platforms after being started with Spotify annual Wrapped. Given the success of Wrapped, numerous companies have launched their own end-of-year recaps, including Apple Music and YouTube Music
