Apple is developing Macs with touchscreen capabilities. It is speculated that the tech giant could launch a MacBook Pro with touchscreen support as early as 2025, according to Bloomberg sources.
The laptop could be equipped with macOS and may have a conventional trackpad and keyboard. The MacBook Pro, though sticking to its usual design, might incorporate display taps and gestures like Windows laptops.
The company is expected to increase its touch input to other mac models in the future as well. The report also emphasized that Apple is altering its Mac displays to OLED from LCDs.
Instead of adding touchscreens to laptops, the company has already launched the TouchBar in 2016, it seemed to be a step towards incorporating full touch screen capabilities. However the feature wasn’t, well received by Apple developers and customers.
Since then, though, the technology has become common on many Windows laptops, and a plethora of iPad accessories have basically turned the tablet into a MacBook.
While the report isn’t proven yet, it seems likely that the tech giant is trying to compete in the aggressive competitive market of touchscreen laptops.
