Microsoft may have given up on Surface Earbuds after more than two years on the market

The Surface Earbuds were released in time for major manufacturers to launch their own headphones around the world. However, these headphones are significantly more expensive and uncompetitive compared to other friendly products. The TWS headphones have been online for more than 2 years and currently the headphones are priced at 1,588 CNY in the Microsoft China Store.

Usually , wearable products receive multiple firmware updates over the life of the product, providing users with richer features and fixing known bugs through firmware updates but there haven’t been any major updates to the Surface Earbuds since they were launched. Surface Earbuds last received an update in September 2020. The first firmware update for the Surface Earbuds was in May 2020, and a second update was released in September of that year after a new graphite gray color was introduced. In spite of this, Microsoft has not released any updates since the release.

Microsoft Surface Earbuds are a mature product, but further optimizations are still needed. Currently, these earbuds have the following problems.

Hissing noise from the headphones when you play audio through them

Out-of-sync audio between the left and right headphones

Long latency between the headphones and connected devices

Issues with Bluetooth connectivity in crowded areas

There can only be one headset charged at a time in the charging case

The headset does not charge when the battery is low
