Several gigantic gaming monitors have been released under the Odyssey brand by Samsung, such as the 55″ 16:9 Ark or the 57″ 32:9 Neo G9. These are curved monitors, but some users prefer flat displays, which is why Samsung has released the Odyssey Neo G7 (model name: G70NC), a monitor that also functions as a smart TV.
Featuring a 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, Odyssey’s 43-inch Neo G7 (G70NC) is the company’s first flat Mini-LED TV. The Odyssey displays are large enough to be used as TVs – in fact, they are Tizen smart TVs – and a flat screen works better for that. The other models use tight curvatures optimized for use at a desk instead of watching them from the couch.
Samsung claims that the new monitor is its first flat Quantum Mini-LED model. The technology, according to the company, enables ultra-fine and precise control of the densely packed LEDs, providing deeper blacks, more expansive color expression, and greater detail, even in dark gaming environments. During gameplay, Samsung uses a matte finish on the panel to reduce light reflections.
In addition to the 3840 x 2160 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, the Odyssey Neo G7 features a 1ms MPRT, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, two USB 3.0 ports, and dual 20-watt speakers. The panel has a typical brightness of 400 nits and VESA HDR 600 certification.
The 43-inch Odyssey Neo G7 size indicates that Samsung intends to use it for more than just a PC/console monitor. By using Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, and an Ethernet port, it can stream Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube content via the Samsung Smart Hub. The included stand can be tilted at a comfortable angle, but you can mount the display to the wall too
Samsung will launch the Odyssey Neo G7 in the first quarter of this year. There’s no word on the price yet, the exact timing and prices will be announced by the company’s regional offices.
