Instagram rolls out new broadcast chat feature ‘Channels’

The social media platform Instagram owned by Meta, is introducing a broadcast chat feature called Channels. The company’s boss Mark Zuckerberg said:

“I’m starting a channel to share news and updates on all the products and tech we’re building at Meta,” Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post. “It will be the place I share Meta product news first.”

The company will also introduce the feature to Messenger and Facebook in upcoming months.

In November of last year, Meta declared the addition of several new features to Instagram, including a system for exchanging digital collectables, as a way to allow content creators to monetize their presence on the social media platform.

This feature lets users back creators by purchasing their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) right within Instagram. As it strives to win over talent with TikTok and other rivals in the present period when influencers are bringing in advertising money to those platforms.

Meta has been releasing more features that enable users to generate income on its social media applications.
