MediaTek introduces Dimensity 7200 chipset to amplify gaming experience

Announcing the first chipset in the new Dimensity 7000 series, MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 features cutting-edge AI imaging, powerful gaming optimizations, and impressive 5G speeds, all while leveraging deep power savings for extended battery life.

Reports suggest that the Dimensity 7200 is based on a TSMC 4nm 2nd generation process, which is equivalent to the Dimensity 9200’s flagship features.

The CPU of this SoC is an octa-core Armv9 with two Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.8GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores, while there is currently no information regarding their frequencies. Furthermore, it has an Arm Mali-G610 MC4 GPU and supports 32-bit applications by means of its little CPU cores.

Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit, CH Chen said, “The MediaTek Dimensity 7000 series will be vital for mobile gamers and photography enthusiasts who are looking for an affordable way to squeeze the most battery life out of their phones without skimping on performance.”

For gamers, the MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 technology provides AI-based Variable Rate Shading (VRS) to save energy, and CPU and GPU intelligent resource optimization for extended battery life, as well as other enhancements for a seamless gaming experience. The chipset also includes a powerful Arm Mali G610 GPU that guarantees fast response times and maintains high frame rates.

Other notable features of the Dimensity 7200 include:

    • Up to 6400Mbps memory frequency and UFS 3.1 for maximum storage.
    • Support for 144Hz refresh rates at FHD+ display resolutions
    • AI SDR-to-HDR video playback for enhanced multimedia experiences.
    • Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E support

The Dimensity 7200, powered by MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 and a 14-bit HDR-ISP, offers an epic photography experience with its 200MP main cameras. It also enables impressive 4K HDR video capturing, as well as the ability to take content from two cameras at Full HD resolution while using all-pixel autofocus technology.

To ensure users get quality shots in dim or dark settings, the chipset includes motion compensated noise reduction. Dimensity 7200 will power 5G devices launching around the world in Q1 2023.
