TikTok is reportedly working on paywalled videos and creator funds in order to make the platform more appealing to creators.
According to reports, TikTok is in the process of introducing a paywall update that will enable content creators to set a fee for their videos. The price could range from $1 or any other amount the producer chooses, and it is currently unclear how this system will operate.
It is unclear how TikTok will work with paywalled videos at this point, but TikTok is trying to target older audiences in the US amid the growing restrictions.
TikTok is making changes to its Creator Fund, which had been created in 2020 and set aside $1 billion for rewarding successful videos over a three-year period.
After facing criticism, the new version of the fund will open up to more content producers, namely those with 100,000 followers or who create longer clips. The improved program is anticipated to go into effect in the United States by next month.
