Huawei officials in Pakistan have announced that the Chinese tech giant’s smartphones will be available in the country again soon.

Executives revealed that the re-launch is expected by the end of this year or early 2024 at a recent event to launch Huawei’s annual report for 2022. It merits mentioning here that a couple of years ago, Huawei was among the top smartphone sellers in Pakistan.

The announcement comes on the heels of Huawei Chairman’s recent comments about the United States’ tech export restrictions on China, in which he expressed confidence that China’s semiconductor industry would not sit idly by but would instead take steps towards self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

In recent years, the US has attempted to impose sanctions and export restrictions on China and Chinese firms as part of the US-China battle for technological supremacy.

In 2023, we will continue to maintain strategic focus and strengthen R&D investment,” Chairman Liang Hua said. “Working with our global partners, we will focus on creating greater value for our customers, partners, and society as we continue to prime the pump for sustainable survival.
