In a groundbreaking move, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has revealed a new system allowing temporary registration of mobile devices for overseas Pakistanis and foreigners visiting the country, valid for 120 days.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently announced this system, showcasing the government’s commitment to ensuring great connectivity services for visitors, so they are always connected during their stay in Pakistan.

This new system allows mobile devices to function smoothly without any taxes or duties for up to 120 days. To use this temporary registration, users simply provide their information and device IMEIs through the user-friendly Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), established by the PTA. This system guarantees a smooth process.

As a security measure, the PTA has connected the DIRBS system with the Federal Investigation Agency’s Integrated Border Management System. This link allows for efficient passport number checks, ensuring only genuine individuals get temporary registration. The PTA also cooperates with mobile operators to check the SIM cards linked to applicants’ mobile numbers, adding a layer of security to the system.

This short-term registration system shows Pakistan’s dedication to creating a friendly atmosphere for overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors. They can use their mobile devices without any financial stress or bureaucratic hurdles. It’s a significant step towards facilitating communication and connectivity, allowing visitors to stay in touch with their loved ones and access necessary services while in Pakistan.
