Whatsapp has made it easier to move chats from one device to another

A QR code makes it easier for WhatsApp users to transfer chat histories between devices. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced a new feature that bypasses any cloud backups simply by scanning a QR code from your old to your new phone. So you can transfer your WhatsApp messages and large attachments soon.

WhatsApp’s new feature announcement says, “Data is only shared between your two devices, and is fully encrypted during transfer.”

This new process could be much quicker and simpler than the existing cloud-based alternative, in which you must backup your chat history to iCloud or Google Drive, then download it to a new device.

As a result of the new feature, users will no longer have to worry about that hassle and will be able to access chats instantly on a new device. Using the QR code, users can transfer data between devices that run the same operating system, such as Android to Android and iOS to iOS. When transferring files from Android to iOS or vice versa, the process will be slightly different.

Although WhatsApp hasn’t specified an exact release date, WABetaInfo previously noted that it’s been slowly rolling out to beta testers on both Android and iOS.In conjunction with official announcement, this suggests the feature will be available soon. Once available, you’ll be able to access the feature by going to Settings>Chats>Chat transfer on the old device.
