A widespread issue has arisen following the latest update from US-based cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, leading to a surge in BSoD (blue screen of death) errors affecting Microsoft Windows servers worldwide. The incident has disrupted services across various sectors in countries such as the US, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Canada, and the Czech Republic, prompting users to voice their concerns on platforms like X and Reddit.
Reports indicate that affected Windows OS devices are unexpectedly logging out users, impacting critical services including banking software, airline ticketing systems, news media servers, and supermarket digital payments. This disruption has resulted in significant inconvenience, with reports of missed flights and ongoing unresponsiveness from essential services in affected regions.
As of now, there have been no reports of the issue affecting users in Pakistan.
Crowdstrike has acknowledged the issue and assured users that its engineers are actively investigating the cause and working towards a resolution. The company has advised against opening support tickets and pledged to provide updates as they become available.
Crowdstrike Falcon, the software at the center of the problem, offers a suite of cybersecurity solutions encompassing endpoint protection, threat detection and response, incident response, and security updates for Microsoft Windows, among others.
