WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature on its Android platform that allows users to view text versions of voice messages. This functionality, which has been available on iPhones since May, is now part of the latest update for the WhatsApp beta app (version 2.24.15.5).

The voice message transcription feature supports multiple languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi, with additional languages expected to be added in the future. To use this feature, users will need to download an additional language pack to ensure message privacy and security directly on their devices.

It’s worth noting that when the feature eventually launches in Pakistan (though no official date has been specified), its performance with Urdu voice messages may not be as accurate initially. However, given its support for Hindi, the app may still be able to transcribe certain messages. Generally, English transcriptions are expected to be more consistently accurate.

Regarding the official launch date, WhatsApp has not made any announcements yet, but with the feature already available in the beta version, it is likely to be integrated into the retail version of the messenger app soon.
