WhatsApp is currently implementing a new version via the Google Play Beta Program that provides an advanced username feature with PIN support, which will be available in a future update.

WhatsApp is considering introducing an advanced username function to boost phone number privacy, which will be released in a future update. This feature will allow users to be contacted on WhatsApp using their username, eliminating the need to provide their phone number.

To improve privacy even more, WhatsApp is implementing an optional PIN code function for usernames. This PIN will provide an additional layer of secrecy, especially for persons with whom you have not previously engaged.

You will be allowed to select a PIN of at least four numbers that you are comfortable sharing with others; however, this should never include private information, such as your two-step verification code. To prevent unwanted messages, other individuals will need to enter your PIN before contacting your username for the first time.

Once the PIN is created, users must share it with others they wish to connect with. It is worth noting, however, that current discussions will not require the usage of the PIN.

This is an optional feature that gives you additional control over who can contact you, ensuring that only people you specify can contact you initially via your login.
