Rumors and news from internal sources suggest that Warid Telecom was all set to launch its 4G LTE mobile services in Pakistan at the beginning of this month, however the only hindrance was approval from PTA. We all know that Warid avoided the 3G/4G spectrum auction and later decided to use its technology neutral license for providing 4G services. Howbeit Zong, the only operator winning a 4G license in the auction wasn’t happy with it.
A few months earlier Warid advertised its plans to launch 4G LTE services and confirmed the delivery of new SIMs to the owners of 4G enabled smartphones. However the plans got delayed and the company allowed Zong to launch its 4G services first.
Now after Zong 4G services are launched in 7 cities, Warid is good to go. The company has already provided 4G SIMs to the company employees and as per our information, from next week free SIM delivery will also start for both pre-paid and post-paid customers.
After the formal launch, customers can also get their SIMs replaced from nearest franchise or business centers. However keep in mind that to use the 4G services you’ve to get a 4G enabled smartphone. Most of these devices are costly (above Rs. 30,000) however you can get these two in a budget.
