Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has finally decided to block the Blackberry Enterprise Services (BES) in the country. Directives has been issued to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to implement this decision from December 1st this year.
This decision has been made after reviewing the security aspects of Enterprise Services. The number of users of this service are relatively very small however the main challenge is that Blackberry email service could not be tracked or decoded, which leads to the security threats.
It merits mentioning here that this decision will not affect the Blackberry Internet Services and the customers will continue to use Internet Services on their BlackBerry phones.
PTA has sent letters to the cellular operators directing them to shut down all the BES services after November 30th, 2015 ─ providing enough time for customers to switch to other available services.
