Last year Facebook introduced a new feature called “Live” for public figures and celebrities. This feature allows you to use your phone and share a moment instantly with the people you care about. This means your friends, family or fans can be there with you, and you can respond to their comments and see their reactions. It’s just like you’re broadcasting on TV and people around the world can see and communicate.

More recently this feature was extended to US users and now it is rolling out to all Facebook users using iOS and Android apps with the ability to use this feature in Groups and Events as well. Facebook Live is interactive and fun ─ Live reactions, replaying comments made while live and Live filters will make it even more so. Live Reactions makes it easy for your viewers to express their feelings in real time during a live broadcast. You can also customize the experience by applying Live Filters, and coming soon we’ll add the ability to draw or doodle on your video while live. You can also invite your friends to watch live with you, simply tap on the invite icon and select the friend you want to invite and they will receive a push notification with your invitation.

If you want a visual way to explore public live broadcasts that are currently happening around the world, the company has released Facebook Live Map on desktop. It gives you a window into what’s happening in the world right now. Pages sharing live videos can also use the new metrics to determine their reach.

It merits mentioning that Facebook is very late to embrace live video and most its features are ripped off from other platforms but with a huge users base it can give its competitors a tough time.
