Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued a notice asking written comments on the proposed merger between Mobilink and Warid Telecom.

The notice published in major newspapers of Pakistan reads:

“All telecom consumers, stakeholders, interested / affected persons and the general public are notified that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has receive the application for the grand of approval of the proposed merger of Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited (PMCL), commonly known as Mobilink and Warid Telecom (Private) Limited (Warid).

All telecom consumers, stakeholders, interested / affected persons and the general public are invited tosumbit their written comments regarding the subject merger to the Director Gernal (Commercial Affairs). PTA Headquarters, F-5/1, Islamabad ([email protected]) on or before 22nd April 2016. An information document for the general public covering major aspects of the proposed merger is available on PTA’s website (www.pta.gov.pk).”

The Competition Commission of Pakistan has already approved the merger and after getting green-light from PTA both companies will go for merging operations, which is likely to happen in the next fiscal year.
