Facebook has announced a major change in the News Feed algorithm. Now it is focused more on your friends and family rather than showing stuff from brands and sponsored stories.
This update will affect all type of content posted, including links, photos and videos. It means that the content posted by brands and publishers will now be less prominent in the News Feed.
Facebook explained their priority is to keep you connected to the people, places and things you want to be connected to. Starting with the people you are friends with on Facebook.
Users can still make use of features such as unfollow, hide or see first to design their own News Feed experience.
It is expected that this update may cause organic post reach and referral traffic to decline for some brands and pages.
Which means they will have to spend more in order to push their content towards the target audience.
