No one, not even Google knows the exact date of its birthday. It is a myth, however for the last couple of years Google has started to celebrate the birthday on September 27th and by that math today it turned 18.
The most loved internet company of all times is an adult now and it even has a parent, called Alphabet.
Jokes aside, in these 18 years Google has done wonders. It took two men with a big dream to turn a small idea into a reality. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were both PhD candidates when they met in 1996 at Stanford and came up with the concept for a search engine, year 1998 Google was born.
It’s not merely a Search Engine anymore
Google has evolved over these 18 years, now it provides Free Email services, Storage space, Advertising, Social interaction via Orkut and now Google+, Mapping Earth, Moon or even Mars, bringing online video now known as YouTube, one of the major mobile operating system called Android, Chrome, Chrome OS, Translation, TV, Wallet, High speed Internet, Project Shield and many more.
It’s hard to keep track of all Google services and products, most of them are very successful and only a few were unlucky. Nonetheless Google has helped shape the internet, to what it is today and it is hard to imagine a world without it. Happy Birthday Google.
