Careem, the worthy rival of Uber in the ride hailing business has also launched rickshaw services in Pakistan.

A pilot project named “Tezz Rickshaw” has started working in Lahore and Karachi in order to counter Uber’s Auto services. For now, this service will only be available to limited users at a base rate of only Rs. 60 and a minimum fare of Rs. 75.

Careem wants to expand the rickshaw services in other parts of the country very soon, especially in the small cities. Careem’s MD for Pakistan, Mr. Junaid Iqbal stated that:

Rickshaws are the transport lifeline for Pakistan’s urban populace. They operate out of stands, which makes for highly inefficient dispatching. We are doing a pilot project to see how well our technology can help accentuate the incomes of rickshaw drivers and provide a more economical option for commuters, woven with the ease that our technology provides.

Uber has started the similar service, over 2 months ago and got a very positive responsive, because rickshaw service costs almost half than the car ride and it is much faster option.

Currently there is no information about the general availability or actual pricing of Careem’s rickshaw service in Lahore or Karachi, however Careem promises that it will not compromise over the quality and the service will be better than its competitors.
