According to a recent report by Tribune, the Global e-commerce giant Alibaba Group is taking keen interest in Pakistan’s tech-industry.
Alibaba Group is seeking to start its ventures in Pakistan’s market, which is driven primarily by mobile internet services.
It merits mentioning that Alibaba formally launched its subsidiary, UCWeb last year in Pakistan. Which aims to provide better internet experience through the UC Browser.
Moreover, UCWeb has acquired 25.3% market share in Pakistan, second after Google Chrome and Firefox.
AliExpress To Launch in Pakistan?
Arguably, Alibaba’s e-commerce company, AliExpress is already one of the acclaimed website in Pakistan. Sources suggest that AliExpress gets around 15,000 orders per day from Pakistan.
In order to grab more opportunities, the group has entered into an agreement with a local company. This company will provide vendors for smooth operations in Punjab’s first and second-tier cities initially.
AliExpress has not officially launched here, meanwhile training sessions and work on necessary infrastructure are currently under way.
Quite recently, Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma has showed his interest to invest in Pakistan’s booming E-Commerce Industry as he wants to benefit developing countries by investing in small and medium enterprises.
