Huawei has announced the next generation P10 and P10 Plus smartphones at MWC in Barcelona today. These new flagship devices are quite similar to last year’s P9, featuring Leica dual camera setup but now with an improved design and performance.
Huawei P10:
The Huawei P10 brings a couple of refinements in the design department. It has a metal body with curved edges and a dual-rear camera setup within the antenna strip at the top of the device.
On the front it features a 5.1-inch 1080p IPS display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 sitting on top of it. It is a bit smaller than the P9 but you won’t notice the difference.
Furthermore, the fingerprint scanner is now on the front side, under the glass. It takes inspiration from Meizu’s mTouch and you can use it for home, back and task switcher, all in one key.
P10 is packed with a Kirin 960 chip Octa-core (4×2.4GHz Cortex-A73 + 4×1.8GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali G71 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, along with the option to use microSD card.
Leica Dual Cameras are back:
The Huawei P10 follows in the path of its predecessor and features a Leica branded dual-rear camera in a horizontal setup. It consists of a 12-Megapixel color and a 20-Megapixel monochrome sensors. Both of these have f/2.2 aperture and 27mm focal length. It uses laser and phase detect auto-focus, however the OIS is only available for the color sensor.
Moreover, the 8-Megapixel front camera of P10 is also Leica branded and has a f/1.9 aperture. The new camera software features a portrait mode for both rear and front cameras. It combines the variable aperture modes and beautification and allows you to get live previews of bokeh effects.
P10 packs a 3,200 mAh battery that supports Huawei’s Super Charge. It can juice up the battery from 0 to 100 in less than 90 minutes.
This new phone runs on Android Nougat 7.0 with Huawei’s Emotion UI 5.1 on top of it. Huawei promises to provide frequent security updates and software upgrades in the future for this phone.
P10 is priced at €649 and it will go on sale in March. The available color options are Greenery, Dazzling Blue, Rose Gold, Ceramic White, Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, and Prestige Gold.
We can expect this phone to launch in Pakistan near April with an expected price between 70 to 75 thousand rupees.
Huawei P10 Plus:
The Plus version has almost similar design but it has a bigger body, well suited for people looking to buy a big phone as 5.1-inch screens are below standard these days.
P10 Plus boasts a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution. It features the similar 2.5D Gorilla Glass and the multi-function home key on the front.
On the inside it is also powered by Kirin 960 chipset, but you will be able to get 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option as well.
It features the same dual Leica branded camera setup, however the cameras have wider apertures at f/1.8 and 27mm focal length.
This phone also features a bigger 3,750 mAh battery supported by Super Charge, that can charge the battery completely with in 1 and half hours.
P10 Plus offers the same array of colors and will be sold in international markets, starting next month. The base model with 64GB internal storage will be sold for €699 (Rs. 77,500) where as the 128GB model is priced at €799 (Rs. 88,500).
