PTA or the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority was established in 1996 to regulate the operations and provision of Telecom Services in the country.
Like many other government institutions, PTA has a website that looks like it was designed in the 90’s, however the Authority has recently decided to re-design the website according to modern web standards.
PTA has requested for proposals to re-design and develop responsive versions of PTA’s Official Website in English and Urdu, along with a Mobile App and Web Accessibility Standards for disabled/special people.
Only “Pindi Boys” Invited to Re-Design:
For some odd reason or to favor some web developers or agencies, only those who have an office in Islamabad or Rawalpindi are eligible to bid for this contract – not surprising, because that’s how government contracts work.
PTA says that the main objectives of re-designing the website are:
- Providing highly user friendly interface for public information and e services for the consumers
- To ensure Website Security for unauthorized access.
- Website to have English, Urdu, Mobile Versions.
- Mobile App to be developed to facilitate the mobile users.
- To upgrade the technology platform.
- To enhance the functionalities of back-end Content Management System.
- To enhance the information security controls.
- To have penetration testing and Audit.
- Processes for Monitoring of the Website.
- Web Accessibility Standards for disabled/special people.
Expression of Interest and Project Completion:
The expression of interest in accordance with the instructions in the RFP document must reach to Deputy Director ICT before 10th April 2017 and the website must be completed within 70 days of signing the contract.
