Apple has disclosed that app developers earned over $320 billion as income on their apps since the launch of its App Store in 2008, This amount does not include Apple’s commission.In addition, the tech giant said it now has more than 900 million paid subscriptions across Apple services, like Music, TV+, gaming and more.

In 2022, the App Store faced some of the toughest times since it was founded due to lawsuits and antitrust actions aimed at limiting its market share. Apple faced an antitrust order in Netherlands that allowed dating apps to accept third-party payments, and multiple European countries are investigating its App Tracking Transparency framework for antitrust issues. Last month, Apple relaxed its pricing controls on the App Store.

Despite its challenges, Apple’s App Store business continues to grow. The company noted that more than 650 million visitors from 175 regions worldwide visit the App Store every week and it’s still delivering new experiences. Apple’s game subscription service, Apple Arcade, also grew in 2022 with the addition of more than 50 titles, including Warped Kart Racers, Jetpack Joyride 2, Gibbon: Beyond the Trees, Wylde Flowers and Cooking Mama: Cuisine. The service now hosts more than 200 games in total.

Additionally, Apple highlighted other services, including Apple Music which has exceeded 100 million songs, Spatial Audio, which has seen monthly listeners triple since it was launched, Shazam’s 20th anniversary saw it reach the milestone of 70 billion Shazams in 2022.

Apple Fitness+ grew its library to 3,500 workouts and meditations. And Apple TV+ became the first streaming service to win an Academy Award for Best Picture with “CODA.” Additionally,  Apple Music, Apple Pay, AppleCare, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, and more, earned a total of $78 billion in revenue in 2022.
