The iPhone will be powered by Apple’s own wireless chips in 2025

Perhaps you’ve heard about Apple’s plans to design its own cellular chip, which is expected to debut in late 2024 or early 2025. Apple is currently using Qualcomm’s cellular chips, and Broadcom’s wireless chips. The latest rumor also includes a wireless chip that provides Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

A source familiar with the matter says Apple’s first internal wireless chip will arrive with iPhone in 2025. As a result, production costs will be reduced, power draw will be improved, and space will be reduced. The company is considering combining the cellular and wireless chips, thus reducing costs.

There’s still no guarantee things will go according to plan, provided the rumor is accurate, but this is simply one of many tries by Apple to reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers by taking most of the manufacturing in-house. Apple’s M-series silicon is the latest example, and it clearly works extraordinary for the company.
