WhatsApp users will soon be able to send images at their original quality without image compression. WABetaInfo spotted the code that would allow such a feature on the messaging app.

WhatsApp users can already choose between “automatic,” “best quality,” and “data saver” image quality settings, yet they have not been provided with options to send images at their original size and resolution. The present “best quality” option provides quick data transfers that require less storage capacity.

The new feature is expected to be included in the new Android 2.23.2.11 but is under development and not yet available to beta testers, WABetaInfo found the ‘photo quality’ settings within the drawing tool header, but no mention has been made of whether the feature will also include videos.

Alternatively, WhatsApp users can change the file’s extension and send it as a document, rather than an image or video, to avoid the compression.
