Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S23 and S23+, its latest refinements to its flagship S series. As always, there are only incremental upgrades and minor design changes. Samsung improved major hardware and software features, but there are no significant changes.
This time round, all versions of the S23 phone globally are fitted with the Qualcomm-made Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which offers higher clock speeds than other 8 Gen 2 processors. Memory storage comes in various options, the two phones do have a 128 GB starter variant, but it is limited to UFS 3.1, while higher-up models (256 GB/512 GB) will bring you faster storage speeds with UFS 4.0.
but the RAM is retained at 8GB (as it has been for the past two years).
The displays of the Galaxy S23 and S23+ have seen improvements while staying true to the original design of the previous year. They both have flat Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 48-120Hz (with a touch sampling rate of 240Hz in Game Mode).
The S23 has a 6.1” display, while the S23+ features a larger 6.6” screen. Both phones have a punch hole for the selfie camera in the center and a fingerprint reader on the underside. Furthermore, new features have been incorporated, such as Vision Booster, which adjusts the colors and contrast to the lighting of the environment.
The cameras are mostly similar to last year’s, with only slight changes. For instance, the Camera RAW app can now take photos in 50MP, which is great for those who edit their phone pics in Photoshop. The main camera still has a 50MP sensor and, thanks to the new chipset, can record 8K videos at 30fps, a remarkable improvement from the 24fps from the earlier version. The ultra-wide camera with a 12MP sensor and 120° field of view, as well as the 3x10MP telephoto camera, remain the same.
An improvement has been made in the selfie camera, which all three models now share, increasing the megapixels to 12 and providing support for Super HDR video recording at 60 frames per second. The S23 and S23+ boast batteries that are 200mAh bigger than the prior versions, with 3,900mAh and 4,700mAh respectively. Plugging in the S23 to charge is rated at 25W, taking half an hour to reach 50%, whereas the S23+ is rated at 45W, needing 30 minutes to reach 65%. Wireless charging and wireless power sharing are still both options.
Both models will be available in Cream, Green, Lavender, and the traditional Phantom Black. Currently, these phones are not available in Pakistan, We expect these phones to be available in Pakistan soon. Further details about pricing will be announced later on.
