A Kuwaiti media outlet has introduced an AI-generated virtual news anchor named “Fedha,” who will be reading online news bulletins.

The Kuwait News website tweeted an image of a woman with blonde hair, wearing a black jacket and white T-shirt, and identified her as the country’s first AI-based news presenter. In classical Arabic, she introduced herself as Fedha and asked for opinions on the preferred news topics.

The presenter’s physical appearance, including blonde hair and light-colored eyes, is meant to reflect the diverse population of Kuwaitis and expatriates. While AI has significant potential benefits, such as in healthcare and reducing menial tasks, it has also raised concerns about its potential to spread misinformation and threaten certain jobs and artistic integrity.
