Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 foldables may be launched earlier than initially expected by Samsung. Despite Samsung not confirming or denying the rumor, another publication claims the Fold5 and Flip5 will be introduced earlier than expected.
As a result of concerns about Q2 2023 earnings, Korean publication The Elec claims the foldables will be released 2-3 weeks earlier than their predecessors in July. It is also considering a late July unveiling of the Fold5 and Flip5 instead of the second week of August in order to boost the Q3 numbers.
Despite the early launch, production for some parts of the two foldable smartphones is also 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule, including the new droplet-style hinge. However, some other parts are being produced as per last year’s schedule.
Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood.
Furthermore, the publication claims that the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 will have OLED displays with the same M12 material as the Fold4 and Flip4, instead of the M13, which Google may use for its first foldable smartphone, Pixel Fold which will be unveiled on May 10 at Google I/O 2023.
Assuming this information is accurate, Samsung’s upcoming phones will not have significantly higher screen brightness.
